Digital Technologies Guidelines

DTG

Kia ora and welcome to the Digital Technologies Guidelines website.

Digital technologies impact on every aspect of our lives, and in the 21st century will be vitally important to New Zealand’s growth. Students in New Zealand need opportunities to become equipped with knowledge of digital technologies so they can respond to the rapid changes taking place in our society.

This website is designed to help schools with the process of implementing the Digital Technology Guidelines.

The Digital Technologies Guidelines are part of the senior subject guidelines that articulate the New Zealand Curriculum (2007). These guidelines focus on how the New Zealand Curriculum (NZC) could be integrated into the senior school through effective teaching and learning practices.

The Digital Technologies Guidelines focus on years 11–13 and provide a flexible planning environment for teachers to design appropriate and coherent courses in the field of digital technology.

It is expected that these guidelines will:

  • support improved pedagogical practices in the area of digital technology
  • develop clear links to the curriculum
  • provide a common framework for teachers working in this area
  • provide a platform for closer alignment with industry and tertiary
  • focus on the future by encouraging confident, connected, actively involved, life-long learners.
